5 Great Homemade Face Mask and Scrubs for Any Skin Type

Vinegar Face Mask

They say that Helen of Troy used vinegar in her skincare routine, but we don’t have a sure way to prove that. However, numerous health benefits of vinegar are proven by science. Its positive effects on the skin have to do with the product’s antibacterial properties that help fight acne and soothe irritations.

¼ cup apple cider vinegar
¼ cup of water

Simply apply the mixture to your face with a sponge and let dry. You can wash your face with lukewarm water in about 20 minutes if the feeling is uncomfortably sticky, but it’s not necessary. You can also use a diluted solution (2 cups water per 1 tablespoon vinegar) as a toner. Store it in the fridge.

Oatmeal and Honey Face Scrub

This recipe is perfect for oily and acne-prone skin.

2 tablespoons honey
½ cup rolled oats (uncooked)
1 teaspoon nutmeg
15 drops lavender essential oil
15 drops melaleuca essential oil

Kindly note that it’s ok to apply a mask after exfoliating with this honey face scrub. However, while there are many great homemade face masks with honey, you shouldn’t use one after this particular treatment. It would be best to stick to something light, like the recipe above. In case you have dry skin, use something nourishing, like masks with coconut oil.

Coffee & Coconut Oil/Lemon Mask

1 tablespoon coconut oil
1 tablespoon coffee
few drops of lemon juice

These are great exfoliant and it also depends on what type of coffee you use. You may buy the whole bean that you ground up at your home, but the easiest thing to do is get instant coffee it has a heavier concentration. While preparing the paste you take a small bowl and mix all the ingredients, if you have dry skin you can use 1 tsp coconut oil or if you have oily skin you can use 1 tsp lemon juice instead of coconut oil or use a little bit of both. Lemons are great if you have more oily prone skin. The nice thick paste of coconut oil is great because as the coffee beans exfoliate your skin that oil is going to penetrate into that fresh new skin and really hydrate it, so you just have to spread it all over your face and have this on for 15 to 20 minutes in to let the caffeine does it's work and moisturize your skin with your fingertips and work that coffee ground into the skin to exfoliate and slough off that dead skin and when you clean it off... fresh, baby butter, smooth is underneath waiting for you.

Basic Sugar and Coconut Oil Scrub

We are talking about aloe vera plant, you can literally get a stock of this at the market at a reliable price, and it will last for quite a long time. So, just cut off a small piece of it you can go for even smaller. Cut-off all the exterior(the skin) to expose that nice gooey soft portion. Slather it all over the face. You can do this as morning or evening treatment. Aloe Vera we all know is fabulous for the skin it locks in the moisture, it heals, it hydrates. You can cover it with a face mask, buy it from a store because it's going to help to lock in that moisture. So that it couldn't air dry too fast.
